While my orienteering friends experienced some unexpecting (has it really been unexpecting...?) happenings in China at the last World Cup of 2019 (see f.e. Andreas Kyburz or Lucas Basset) also my last time was a bit turbulent. After the passing months with increasing knee pain we decided to check it with an MRI and after a lot of discussions and thinking we came to the end that there is the necessity for another surgery. The cartilage that has been fixed last year was removing partially and led...

On Wednesday another kind of birthday is going to be "celebrated", 365 days did pass since the last surgery on my knee. So, Happy Birthday little knee for turning 1 year! Honestly, I'm not sure what to feel when thinking back to the last 12 months. It has definitely also been a chance to experience and learn some new things, I wouldn't have been able to do without this injury: - increasing my cycling skills and riding 144km from Bern to Winterthur on my brandnew roadbike in 4h41' - getting a...

Time is passing and at the moment I'm enjoying loooong holidays until I start working again in September. I benefit from the free time and my days are filled with training and other happenings: - 40weeks after my last surgery I got the official confirmation from my doctor that I'm out of the rehab-process and that the cartilage in my knee is in a very good condition! 🎉 Which means that I can reasonably expand my running and orienteering training for trying to get back to my old shape. - this...

"I'm back". (At least for 90%.) - How long was I waiting for being able to say those 3 words! And now I can say them 3 months earlier than expected. Since the last blog entry I could move forward with quantum jumps. At the moment I can run 5-6 times a week which means up to 65k. There are still a lot of cycling trainings and gym-hours included but it's definitely a runners life again! And so I could join the Swiss Orienteering Team for a trainingcamp in Norway last week. My program was a bit...

Long time no news. Because I was thinking, that the time during winter will be quite boring and not a lot of sporty adventures. But how wrong I was! After around 3 months postop I got the permission to start running on the Alter G, an anti-gravity-treadmill where you can reduce your bodyweight and so there is less impact on the body. Step by step I was able to build up the bodyweight until I reached full weight. This was a big surprise because I was really thinking that I won't be running until...

8 weeks ago I was having the surgery at my knee. Time for a short overview. The first weeks have been quite exhausting. I wasn't allowed to bend the knee, had to walk with crutches and after all, the pain was more intense than I thought. With the days passing I could start swimming with pullbuoy, increasing the strength training and doing some one-legged-spinning. It was helping me a lot that I could still do some activities! I started investing more time into school and friends and my life was...

So, there we are. At the foot of my mountain, which I have to and I want to climb the following year. On tuesday, the hike to the summit is going to start. Since 2 months now I know about the damaged cartilage in my knee and since then I'm looking forward to the last operation. Where the way up to my little Mount Everest is starting. At the moment, I'm just packing my bag. I'm putting everything inside, that I could need during my long climb. Some of the material: minibands, a gymnastic ball, a...

Actually, I don't know how to start this blog. How should one start an update, which is telling about the biggest challenge in my career so far? I'm just going chronological from one happening to the next one... It all started some months ago, when I had some pain in my knee. I haven't been thinking about it, continued with my training. After the European Champs it got worse and for the first time I had some troubles during trainings and competitions. So I decided to do a 2 weeks running break....

Venla/ Jukola 2018 – the weekend of the year is already over. Similar to every year it was great, and even better with ol norska raskt tog team! This was our highlight, this was the main topic of our clubtrainings, this was the biggest motivation, we couldn't wait to start Venla and Jukola in Lahti FI! Several times during this season I had some problems to find the motivation and right attitude. And every time it was the raskt tog team and the thoughts of Jukola which made me looking forward...

Two weeks ago I was competing at my very first Elite European Championships in Ticino. So many hours of work we have been putting into this project, so many trainings have been done with the mind already at EOC and never before I was underestimating a competition in such a manner...! I'm loving the days before a competition when the team is together in the official accommodation, the atmosphere is still relaxed, you're getting in touch with the athletes from the other nations, everyone is...
